For almost a year the library has operated an intergenerational playroom where local seniors get to meet and chat with local children.
Facilitator Hailey Reynolds said that to begin with they were not sure how it would go.
“But everyone is really enthusiastic. It’s the same children and same seniors meeting every month and that grandparent, grandchild relationship is very natural,” Ms Reynolds said.
It’s something different and the kids love it because age is not a factor for them.

Cymmon Parker of Kalaru is a regular visitor with a group of children.
“I bring four children for a family day care excursion each month,” Ms Parker said.
“I really like the idea of them mixing with older people. It’s something different and the kids love it because age is not a factor for them,” Ms Parker said.
And clearly it wasn’t just the kids that were enjoying it with one lady welling up with tears of joy as she chatted to some of the children playing in the room.
