The Penguins had the bye in first grade, but the reserves were able to clinch a 1-0 result over the Eden Killer Whales, knocking Eden down to fifth place, but the Penguins are still trailing by six competition points.
Meanwhile, the Eden side scored a 3-1 win in the women’s encounter.
Merimbula’s first grade outfit suffered a 1-0 loss in the dying seconds against Wolumla, while the reserves carded a 3-2 win against Tathra.
This weekend, the Grasshoppers head to Bemboka to play the Braves in ladies and reserves, with the firsts to have a bye.
