Council said the delivery plan, adopted in June 2017, has been revised to take into account two major additional factors, one of which was the Tathra and district fire response and recovery which is expected to impact council programs and resourcing for up to 18 months.
The other factor is the unprecedented level of funding being delivered by the NSW state government through the regional growth funds.
While the funds provide council with the opportunity to deliver additional and upgraded infrastructure in a range of areas, including transport, sport and recreation, buildings and tourism, it does also impact staffing resources to deliver these projects and potentially impacts on forward planning for operations and maintenance, council has said.
Some councillors have indicated they will make their own submissions to the documents which show that rates will increase by 2.3 per cent in the coming year.
Some key activities will include seeking funding for the Regional Gallery and for the Bega and Pambula sporting complex masterplans. Council also wants to complete the concept design and seek funding for renewal of the Bega Pool, and seek funding for the Merimbula CBD development.
It will continue to plan the Merimbula deep water ocean outfall and sewage treatment plant upgrade, plan Bega, Brogo and Yellow Pinch Dam water treatment plants, design upgrades to Bermagui and Bega sewage treatment plants and develop the bridge replacement program.
The revised Delivery Program 2017 – 2021 sets out council’s primary actions for this four year period.
The draft operational plan 2018 – 2019 contains programs and activities that council will deliver in the next financial year, as well as the draft budget, fees and charges, and revenue policy.
