Council has said its recovery focus would continue for the next 18 months with some activities extending beyond that period.
“These required activities have impacted on the ‘business as usual’ activities of council as planned for 2017/18 and this will continue into the 2018/19 year as outlined in the draft operational plan currently on public exhibition,” council’s general manager Leanne Barnes said.
At the council meeting on June 13 councillor Robyn Bain said the Prime Minister came to visit Tathra but “left us without a cheque and this council and the committee have done a wonderful job for the community”.
“There’s not a set of criteria for these things. I’d like to think we could get a package of $5m,” Cr Robyn Bain said.
Councillor Liz Seckold said it had been an excessive workload on staff.
“We’re seen as an exemplary council across the state,” Cr Seckold said.
Ms Barnes has been widely commended for her role in the recovery effort with local MP Andrew Constance saying he had heard nothing but good reports.
