Daniel Holka joined Bega as he turned eighteen and enjoyed it so much he accepted the position as president within months of joining with a vision of spreading the word of Toastmasters to the younger world.
Daniel gained his confidence after joining Toastmasters and feels that it is the best kept secret and he wanted to make it available to all, encouraging high school and university students to become a member.
”Toastmasters you usually have to be 18 and over but I am targeting high school students and uni students because feedback from everyone I have spoken to is that public speaking skills would have definitely helped them earlier in their career,” Mr Holka said.
“Public speaking can be daunting and I want to get younger individuals involved.”
Each meeting is two hours and contains icebreaker activities, mock interviews, speech writing, impromptu speeches and all the information needed to learn how to increase your confidence and improve leadership skills.
This year Toastmasters have also launched a new educational platform which gives members a greater opportunity to gain confidence and knowledge in more avenues of presentation.
Bega Toastmasters meet every second Tuesday at Club Bega. Merimbula Toastmasters meet on the last Wednesday of each month at Club Sapphire commencing at 5.30pm.
