It was a chance to see Brogo reservoir from the water and many of the people attending the fundraiser organised by Brogo Rural Fire Service for their colleagues in Tathra, took the opportunity.

For those who ventured past the dam wall and into the more remote areas, there was some stunning scenery with sheer cliffs at the water’s edge, to be seen.
The fundraiser on Sunday, June 3 has raised about $2500 according to one of the organisers, Rosemarie Griffith, who said the event had gone very well.
“Everyone had a really good day and the kids all had a great time,” Ms Griffith said.
“There were some Tathra RFS members who attended and it was really nice for them to know that people were thinking of them.”
Brogo RFS captain Mike Jay said it was about one brigade helping out another.
There were two dragon boats at the event courtesy of the Merimbula Water Dragons which were kept busy throughout, and canoes from Brogo Wilderness Canoes. The Brogo RFS also had a punt with chairs for anyone who didn’t want to paddle or wanted to take the easier tour.
A little further up the hill from the boat ramp, food stalls and a coffee van kept everyone fuelled up while kids were entertained with face painting and a jumping castle. At lunchtime a bush band entertained everyone.
Mr Jay said their hearts went out to the brigade at Tathra. “When one of the brigades goes through a tough time we like to rally round, brigade to brigade.”
As a result of the event Brogo RFS has acquired three new members, Ms Griffith said.
