Delta’s therapeutic visits around the community will be missed by many. Her carer Jim Wheatley sends a message of kind regards to everyone who has appreciated Delta in all of her group visits.
“It has been such a privilege to have had Delta and to share her with the community.”
“To have put in so much hard work in training her, has really paid off,” he said.
From birth, Delta was destined to be a guide dog for Pets as Therapy although did not make the cut, instead she fell in the loving care of Mr Wheatley at 18-months-old.
As part of the Community Visitors Scheme Mr Wheatley was obliged to share Delta with the community, and in doing that he said “she became more of a companion.”
“She was a placid dog, not jealous and not protective – a very loving dog,” Mr Wheatley said.
