Properties destroyed by fire will not be charged for water usage, or receive a notice this quarter, and all properties recording an increase of 10 per cent, or higher, in usage this quarter compared to the same period last year will be given a discount of up to $50 off their account, council said.
“This amount equates to approximately 17,500L of water usage at the property, more than would be expected as usage for firefighting purposes,” council information says.
According to council, letters will be sent to affected residents, and any affected residents who don’t receive a discount are encouraged to write to council, who will review claims on a case-by-case basis.
