Playing to a full house the bands performed a varied program. The concert band backed The Dancers in Lord of the Dance with a very Irish flavour. They returned for music from West Side Story.
David Willis, a previous musical director of the concert band, returned to compere the event.
The second half of the concert was dedicated to the jazz band where musical director Paul Dion made a lively entrance with a gold jacket and pink umbrella.
The Dancers joined the band for Sing, Sing, Sing, a big band number. In between there were performances which showcased individual members of the band either through solos, special arrangements or composition.
Mr Dion said he was thrilled with the performance and how the younger members of the band had stepped up for the public performance.
“We’re now focused on the Jazz Festival where the band will be playing at the Jazz Hatters Party on Monday,” he added.
Speaking at the concert, councillor Sharon Tapscott said she was amazed at the talent in the shire, revealing that she too had been an Andy Cross dancer previously.
