Just one player managed to match his handicap, showing just how difficult the course had been set up.
The A grade winner playing off a handicap of minus one was Gary Cook, who managed four outstanding stroke rounds to tame the course with an overall score of 291, one under the course par rating.
He finished 15 shots ahead of second-placed Josh Mawby – a newcomer to the club having moved down from Moree to teach at Pambula Primary School.
Mawby put up a sterling effort in his first appearance in the championships.
Making it a family affair, Gary's young son, Brodie Cook, is the club Junior Champion, carding 432 over four rounds as well as finishing runner-up in D grade against a large field of seasoned competitors.
In B grade, Bega Cheese manager Brett Devenish took the trophy with an overall score of 357.
Devenish also took out the May monthly medal that was played on Saturday in conjunction with the championships, scoring a commendable nett 70, giving him the slender lead he needed going into Sunday.
Bruce Burton ruing some missed putts was runner-up three shots behind with an overall 360.
Tony Hayward in C grade took a one-shot lead into the final two rounds and maintained his consistency to shoot both rounds in the 90's to take out the trophy with an overall 378 strokes.
Allan Brown was unable to match Tony's hot form and finished second with an overall 389.
The D Grade competition that was played over two days with a large field of competitors was a very close affair with Len Salt finally prevailing with an overall score of 217 strokes just one stroke ahead of Brian Dobson and Brodie Cook with 218.
The monthly medal in conjunction was awarded to Brett Devenish on his nett 70 from Bill Eaton and Josh Mawby with 72.
Alek Werchanowski took the B grade medal with a nett 71 from Jamie Ackling with 73. The C Division medal was won by Alan Rowlinson with a nett 74 from Gavin Brown and Geoff Stone both with 76.
