It was very pleasing to see the great support the golfing community afforded the Pambula Rotary Club over the past weekend when over 250 players attended the two days of golf in a very financially successful event.

The weekend culminated with a fun four person Ambrose on Sunday when Wes Dan and Mat Fleet assisted by Justin Welsford streeted the field by 2.5 shots to take home the spoils.
Saturday saw 148 players battle it out with Judy Hare recording the best score of the day with 41 points putting the boys to shame well played Judy. The Arcuthi Haircut voucher is the reward for your efforts.
The best score for the male competitors was 40 points by Jeff Hazell to take the B grade money as well as the overall prize. Ian Murray is showing a nice return to form with 39 too good for the rest of A grade whilst Ron Murdoch continued his hot form to lead C grade also with 39.
Bob Hart was very complimentary of Sails Real Estate for once again supplying him with $220 spending money for a great shot on the 6th. Bob please give some mere mortals a chance. How many times is this Robert?
The Rotary Club must be congratulated on a well organised weekend made possible by the great sponsorship supplied by the local business houses. Please don’t forget to support those who support us.
Congrats to Jo Hunt on winning both Tuesday and Thursdays Ladies comps good playing Jo. Helen Fisher on Tuesday and Kerryl Stirling on Thursday were the other successful players this week.
Great to see two former club champions still have some fight in the “dog”. Mike Maxworthy in A grade and Rod Cook in B grade showed you never keep a good man down for long. 38 points for Mike and 37 for Rod good enough to take out their respective grades.
In a repeat of a previous column great to see “young” Tom Hammond lead the way in C grade with a well compiled 40 points. The score of the day was a remarkable 45 points scored by the evergreen Arthur Webb in D grade .Arthur is a regular visitor from Eastern Golf Club in Melbourne great effort young man.
Josh Mawby enjoying a break from his school teaching profession hit a ripper on the 6th to 22 cm enabling Josh to enjoy $168 courtesy of Sails golden shot.
Last but not least news this week is to mention David “frog” Crocker was the winner of the first of the regular (last Sunday of each month at 2 30 pm) 9 hole event.
