Ian Wood and Terry Kirby set a figure 8 course which worked well. Terry helped run the first race and Graham Cross helped Ian with the second race.
We had fun and tight racing. Terry Ubrihien was looking good all day on his Nacra catamaran. He said that the wind was perfect for him, keeping him on wire all day.
Although he was fastest around the course, it was Rob Morton who won on yardstick corrected time, just seconds ahead of Sian Morton’s Sabre, then Terry’s Nacra.
Rob Morton said he missed the MG14 and NS14s, who were away, but Dennis Stanton’s Weta trimaran with a new young crew Woti were always close.
Sian missed Terry and Neil to race against, stayed comfortably in front of the other Sabres, who otherwise stayed in a close bunch.
The trailer-sailors of Jeff Hope and Darren Lydiard stayed in that bunch for the first race, and more closely chased Sian in the second race.
Rob won race two ahead of Terry, then Sian.
Meanwhile Tony Hastings and Luca Dorrough contested the Batemans Bay Anzac Regatta, scoring third in their division. They enjoyed it when surfing the 1m swell, with Luca on trapeze and the spinnaker up, not so much when drifting slowly while rocking.
Sailors are already excited for the next season which will return in September.
The season’s results will be revealed at a Presentation Day on Saturday, from noon at the clubhouse.
