Life member Marie Buckland celebrated her 90th birthday with her golfing mates following Tuesday’s round. Marie was an extremely hardworking member holding the position of Ladies President from 1972-1975 and Ladies Captain from 1968-1971.

The lady players were joined in the celebrations by Club vice president Tony Freeman Club Director Margaret Gaunson and General Manager Ryan Clarke. Marie spoke of the many changes she has witnessed and wished the Club ever success in the future.
Last Saturday Vicki Balfour played the dream shot holing in one on the tricky 6th hole sorry Vicky for missing last week’s news.
Anne Lavender kept her hot streak of form going on Tuesday to take the A grade prize with plus 2 and the very consistent Judy Stove led the way in B grade with plus 1. Lyn Bothamley took home the cash for the golden shot.
Whilst on the ladies results Thursday saw a very unpleasant hot windy day restrict the field to 47 players. However it didn’t stop Pam Eaton recording a very creditable 35 points to lead A grade. In a day for the Pats 31 points was good enough to secure the B grade money for Pat Pearson. Brave effort to all who played.
A very pleasing field of 161 on Wednesday enjoyed a magnificently prepared course with the greens freshly rolled and the tees and fairways groomed to perfection.
The score of the day 42 points was recorded by Neil Ffrench enabling Neil to clearly win B grade and enjoy the Arcuthi haircut voucher as a bonus. The second best score of the day 40 points saw the hard working vice-president Tony Freeman lead D grade. After a long spell great to see John Brandenburg has still got it 39 points good enough to take the A grade major prize. Like John Greg Cameron has been missing a good deal of golf recently but 37 points proved he is good enough to win C grade without practice.
Saturday saw a rough day for scoring a zephyr of a breeze causing havoc , the best score recorded was 39 points in three grades Steve Cann Bruce Small and Chris Beatty winning A C and D grades respectively Barry Meehan found 38 points was good enough to head the B grade contingent.
The ever consistent Ian Murray had his iron play on song taking out two nearest to the win awards and the golden shot.
The Rotary club weekend of golf is on April 26th and 27th Saturday is a Stableford singles event and Sunday is a 4 person Ambrose.
