Officials said kart racers travelled from as far as Melbourne to compete on the Far South Coast circuit and the club will look for more big entries with a special meet next week.
On March 24-25 the club will host a “DPE Kart Technology 10 heat meet” with $2500 worth of prizes up for grabs just by entering.
The event is expected to attract entries from far and wide with the club already fielding enquiries from the Central Coast, in-land NSW and all the way down to Victoria.
Typically a weekend of racing would consist of five heats with all races being run in the same direction. This event will have five heats clockwise (reverse direction) and five heats in the normal direction across the two days of racing.
Some high-quality, well respected officials are travelling from Canberra Kart Racing Club to help run the event.
The Sapphire Coast circuit is regarded as one of the best go kart courses in the state with an excellent backdrop on the Far South Coast, but it is also superbly maintained by a hard-working troupe of volunteers.
The course has also been revered for some high speed sections as well as the tight turns, which can be enjoyed in all sorts of weather.
Classes will be grouped as much as possible to help get through the weekend quickly so expect to see big fields. The exception to this is the growing Cadet 9A class which will see kids aged 7-10 years old who are new to racing compete against each other with similar experience.
The club has also recently upgrade the gravel catch-traps thanks to a partnership with Karting Australia.
Spectators are always welcome at go kart events and entry is free. The club has a canteen and full amenities at the Frogs Hollow circuit.
The club is also seeking volunteers to lend a hand. If you are able to assist in any capacity, please contact President, Lance Ogier on 0417 757 561.
