The fountains aim to promote and encourage reduce, reuse and recycle as well as to compliment fitness trails around town.
Locations where the fountains are currently under construction are; Mitchies Jetty, Pambula Rivermouth, the Information Center, and opposite the Lakeview.
So far, Merimbula Boatramp, Spencer Park, Beach Street, 1.5km along the Boardwalk and the entrance of Pambula Beach have fountains open to the public for use. Manager of water and sewer services Jim Collins said that Bar Beach is “to be determined” as another location.
Major Kristy McBain officially launched the new fountains and said it will make the place “more livable and more lovable.”
“It is a project that a couple of other towns are jealous of, I have noticed that the Eden Chamber of Commerce now want to jump on board.
“I think it is fabulous that council is working together with committees such as this one [Special Events Committee] to work on something like this,” she said.
