The bright yellow anchor was being using during a training session for the dragon boaters who put the anchor over the back of the boat to create drag and increase resistance.
It was soon after the training session had started at 6.30pm that suddenly the boat became a lot lighter and there was nothing left except the rope.
President of the Merimbula Water Dragons Charles Helmore said that it might wash up somewhere around the lake or may get hooked on a line.
“It would be nice if we could retrieve it,” he said.
Although the dragon boaters circled the area where the sea anchor was lost they were unable to spot it and returned to shore to get a milk crate as a replacement.
“It’s about 75cm long and shaped like a cone or witches hat and made of bright yellow plastic cloth,” Charles said.
If anyone comes across the missing sea anchor the dragon boat club would appreciate a call. Contact Pat Helmore on 0427 961 626.
