Bega Valley public schools compete in 2018 zone swimming carnival

Pupils from across the Bega Valley Shire made a splash in the Candelo Pool on Tuesday, February 27 for the zone swimming carnival. 

Following their individual school swimming carnivals, the strongest swimmers from Bermagui, Cobargo, Quaama, Bega Valley, Bemboka, Tathra, Merimbula, Pambula and Eden Public Schools come together for the competition. 

The best performing swimmers in their age group now progress to the next stage of the South Coast swimming championships in Dapto on Tuesday, March 13. 

All the the pupils had a great day out both in and around the pool with lots of parents, grandparents and siblings joining in the fun and helping out on the day. 

Tathra Public School won the senior boys relay race and Bega Valley Public School took first place in the senior girls relay race. 

Age champions were awarded on points at the end of the competition. 

Tazmyn Messenger of Tathra Public School won junior girl champion.

Rylan Byrnes of Bega Valley Public School won junior boy champion.

Jess Bennett of Pambula Public School won age 11 girl champion. 

Lachlan Moresi of Bermagui Public School won age 11 boy champion.

Amelia Byrnes of Bega Valley Public School won senior girl champion. 

Jack Caldwell of Eden Public School won senior boy champion.
