Christopher William Hoskins, 39, was arrested in the early morning hours of December 23 after failing to stop when directed and leading police on a pursuit from Frogs Hollow to Pambula.
Police deployed road spikes to bring the pursuit, which reportedly reached speeds of 156kmh and averaged 130kmh, to an end.
When breath tested, Hoskins blew 0.172 and was also found to be driving while disqualified for a previous drink driving offence.
In Bega Local Court on Tuesday, February 27, Hoskins pleaded guilty to charges of police pursuit/driving at speed (second offence), high-range drink driving (second offence), and driving while disqualified (second offence).
Magistrate Doug Dick sentenced Hoskins to 24 months’ prison, with a non-parole period of nine months. His licence will remain suspended for three months from the date of his release and he must agree to supervision upon parole and also engage with alcohol counselling and support services.
Hoskins was refused bail but has lodged an appeal over the severity of the sentence.
