It was near perfect conditions for competitors throughout day three of the race, from Tuross Head to Narooma.
The Pambula Masters Women’s crew secured themselves a third win and are feeling confident.
“Broulee were in the lead, it was after the first half hour that we changed crew and powered past them,” Kirsty Byrne said.
“Afterwards one of the Broulee women asked if there was an engine in our boat, they were shocked at how we sped past them.”
The Pambula Master’s Men’s crew are still in the competition despite their superman sweep having heart troubles on day one.
The crew received a message from Wayne Kent saying they will get a “kick in the backside” if they were to quit.
Andrew Holt has stepped up to sweep the crew, although they are currently scouting for an extra rower to join them in the longer race legs.
“Considering what happened, all of the other clubs have been really great, offering help so it shouldn't be too hard finding someone to fill in,” Holt said.
The crew have set a goal, keeping Kent’s thongs in the boat where he had left them until the race end.
Overall, Bulli Open Men’s crew have continued to dominate the race.
The reigning endurance event champions won the third successive tussle in an adjusted time of 1:46:45, from Long Reef and Coogee.
Mollymook and Pambula were fourth and fifth, respectively.
In the Open Women’s event, North Cronulla also turned in another dominant display to claim the crew’s third successive leg, in an adjusted time of 1:53:09.
Broulee was second, Moruya third and Broulee Capitals fourth.
Wanda surged back into contention in the third leg of the Masters Men’s event, winning in an adjusted time of 1:49:03, from Grange and Narooma.
Wanda won the first leg from Batemans Bay to Moruya, but North Cronulla claimed the second leg from Moruya to Tuross Head on New Year’s Day.
North Cronulla was beaten into fourth place in the third leg on January 2 and Tathra, Wollongong City, Bulli, Pambula, Broulee Capitals, Warriewood and Noosa followed.
Pambula continued to row home strongly, claimed the third successive leg in 2:04:00 from the Broulee Bats, Torquay, Darwin and Avalon Beach.
They are due to row from Narooma to Bermagui on Wednesday.
However, organisers are keeping a weather eye out, with a contingency plan of rowing a triangle event from Bermagui.
