An eight-year-old girl is recovering in Canberra Hospital after reportedly being hit with a fishing spear near Bermagui.

A multi-pronged spear from a handheld speargun had lodged itself in the girl’s left calf in the accident, which occurred at Barragga Bay, south of Bermagui, just before noon on Tuesday, January 2.
NSW Ambulance paramedics responded and treated the girl on site.
She was then transported to Canberra Hospital in a stable condition.
