An extended dry period left many on tank water peering into the top of their tanks with dismay and the water truck had started to be seen again around the shire.
But now those tanks will be filling nicely and gardeners are hoping that the persistent rain will find its way below the top couple of centimetres of soil.
By noon on Tuesday Merimbula Airport had seen 12mm fall in the preceding three hours. That came on top of 30mm in the previous 24 hours, 13mm on Sunday and 19mm on Saturday.
However the wet weather coupled with a king tide at Merimbula on Tuesday brought water levels up along the boardwalk and at Mitchies Jetty and the Sunset Cafe jetty at Top Lake.
