Cr McBain took questions on a range of subjects including fluoridation, art galleries, trees, responsibility for maintaining assets that council does not own, regional cooperation, state and federal funding, and even the required diameter of sewerage pipes to cater for peak tourist loads.
According to vice-president of U3A Sapphire Coast Garry Clear, members of the group were impressed by Cr McBain's willingness to answer questions honestly and with humility and humour.
He noted her “commonsense approach, and her depth of knowledge on a diverse range of issues”.
U3A and Taboo Topics members said they were especially grateful to Cr McBain for taking the time out of a busy schedule to head along and participate in this very popular U3A activity.
For anyone interested in joining a Taboo Topics group and enjoying the lively and informed debates they engage in, there are two groups – one at Tura Beach and the other at Tathra.
Tathra is held on Tuesdays at the Tathra Beach Bowling Club and Tura’s at the Tura Beach U3A Centre on Wednesdays. Both are from 10am to midday.
Polite but robust discussions on a range of lively issues. Join in or head along and listen to others.
