Mr Edmonds said club members had competed in events right across Australia, while a strong representation from the club took part in the Australian Running Festival in Canberra.
He said the club had also been integral in staging both the Merimbula Fun Run in May and the Bega Fun Run in October.
“Both events were staged successfully and all who participated expressed thanks on the day for fun and professionally run events,” he said. Mr Edmonds said the volunteers and committee members on both events had been doing exceptional work.
Unfortunately, he did say there had been a drop in entries at both events and organisers would be looking at ways of refreshing and maintaining the viability of both meets.
“We also conducted a number of smaller club member only events throughout the year. These were well received and attended,” Mr Edmonds said.
The club is also focused on raising funds for local charities within the Bega Valley – In March, 48 runners participated in Run For A Reason which saw $480 donated to OzHarvest Sapphire Coast.
$305 was donated to the Merimbula RFS from the Merimbula Fun Run and a further $470 was donated to the Community Carers Accommodation South East from Bega Fun Run.
