The Domain Charity golf day is going ahead in support of SPAN, a mental health service aimed at preventing suicide.
South Coast Golf Tours director Darren Jones said the golf day will provide plenty of fun on the course, but is also supporting a truly worthy cause.
“Unfortunately suicide and mental health are an issue on the South Coast, but it’s something we can speak out about and address together,” Mr Jones said.
Mr Jones said the day was a first for the Domain brand on the Far South Coast and said it was good to see everything raised being put to good use in the community.
A spokesperson for Domain said supporting SPAN was a “natural choice”.
The spokesperson said it would provide an opportunity to socialise and enjoy a fun day on the course, while providing a lifeline for those in need.
“They’re such an integral part of the Bega Valley Shire so it was easy for us to support them with this day,” the spokesperson said.
Anyone and everyone is welcome to take part, and you don’t need to be an ace on the golf course to sign up for a bit of fun.
Teams will take on a four-person ambrose format with entries including breakfast, 18 holes of golf, lunch and novelty events on the day.
“We’re pretty happy to be part of this event,” Mr Jones said.
Organisers are hoping to get some good entries and provide a substantial donation to SPAN as a result.
Mr Jones said the day would be ideal for businesses and could provide an office Christmas party.
“It’s going to be a ripper of an event and we’d encourage businesses to get a team involved,” he said.
“It’s a really great cause and would make a good day out for the office party.”
Mr Jones said there would be drinks carts roaming the course throughout the day, while there were also some major raffle prizes to go off during presentations after lunch.
Tickets are $75 for individuals and team entries (four players) are $300.
Golf carts are not included on the day, but can be booked directly through the pro shop on 6495 6280 – carts are limited so get in quick.
Registration from 7am and play is a shotgun start at 9am with presentations at 1.45pm.
