Historical society
The Merimbula-Imlay Historical Society is having a 50th birthday party at the Old School Museum (opposite the RSL) on Saturday, November 25 at 2.30pm and all are welcome to join the celebrations which follow a 60s theme, commemorating the original members who founded the society in 1967. Come and eat sixties food, dance to sixties music and check out some of the displays in the museum. Andrew McManus will also launch his publication Preserving our Heritage: the Fiftieth Anniversary History of the Merimbula-Imlay Historical Society. Entry by gold coin donation.

Bridge team
Congratulations to the Sapphire Coast Bridge Club team, Lewis Seychell, Dorothea Bonney, Di Woolford, Colin Manley and John Bentley, who qualified to compete at the 2017 Grand National Open Teams finals at Tweed Heads, November 25 - 27. This team won the local club event; won the Southern NSW Zone; and are now off to Tweed Heads to compete at a national level against 70 other clubs from all over Australia.
Garden Club
The Merimbula and District Garden Club will hold its last general meeting for the year at 10.15am on Saturday, November 25 at the RSL Club, Merimbula. This month members are bringing morning tea to share and we are having an exciting competition to test the of those attending. Visitors and new members will be welcome. We will have our usual plant sale and raffle. Members will celebrate Christmas at 11.30 for 12 at the RSL on December 9.
RSPCA
The Sapphire Coast Branch, RSPCA will sell Christmas raffle tickets on November 24 and December 8 outside Woolworths, Merimbula and on November 29 and December 15 at Tura Beach Woolworths, when the raffle will be drawn. There are several adult cats in care at present, all needing new homes for Christmas. Kitten season has commenced and several will be available for adoption soon. All animals are de-sexed, vaccinated and micro-chipped before being available for adoption. Call 0419 267 799 for details.
Community radio
Colin's guests on Local Rotary Heroes include, Gordon Beattie at 9am, John Dawson at 10am and to round out the morning's interviews, Dave Barrie at 11am. Tune in to your community radio 97.5 Sapphire FM from 8.30am.
Parkinson Group
Jo-Anne Reeves the CEO of Parkinson NSW was the guest speaker at the November meeting of the Bega Valley Parkinson Support group. Jo-Anne and Melanie Browning , the support group coordinator, made the trip to Bega to speak to our members and to bring our members up to date with the future of Parkinsons NSW'. Both were delighted with the work done by our group in providing help to our fellow members and to the group for its promotion of Parkinsons Disease in this area.
The President BoB McDonald and Secretary Jean Nicholson were special guests at the Parkinsons Golf Day at Monash Country Club in Sydney.
The 4th December meeting will be the Christmas party to be held in the Dolphin Room at the Sapphire Club in Merimbula commencing at Noon. We trust all members can attend please contact President Bob and Secretary Jean if you are unable to attend.
