Cold weather impact on aircraft

A Regional Express (Rex) aircraft was stuck at Merimbula for a number of days recently waiting for maintenance work which would allow it to fly in the recent cold and squally weather the company said.

The aircraft was parked behind Squizzy’s workshop at the airport for about a week according to local reports.

“The aircraft was on the ground in Merimbula longer than anticipated as it could only be operated outside of icing conditions, which was prevented due to the weather conditions,” a spokeswoman for Rex said.

On Tuesday maintenance work was completed and the aircraft was returned to service.
