This show is dedicated to the dainty Sarcochilus orchids, which are rarely seen at the regular orchid shows. Their flowers may be small but are carried in profusion, and displayed en masse with their ever increasing colour range they made quite a show.
They were complimented by a variety of exotic orchids, with a particularly good showing of Masdevallias, pendulous Cymbidiums and Softcane Dendrobiums.
Grand Champion Sarcanthinae orchid and winner of the Bev and George Parker Perpetual Trophy was Sarc Lyn x hartmannii Tripple Red, grown by Austin Legler from Pambula. This charming little plant had perfectly shaped white flowers with a red centre and was also awarded Champion Sarcanthinae Hybrid.
Ulli Cliff from Bega won Champion Sarcanthinae Species with her well grown white Sarc hartmannii 'Rebecca' x 'Red Snow'; and her Sarc (Hot Ice x fitzgeraldii) 'Bright' x Hot Ice '4x', carrying numerous racemes of pink flowers all around the pot was awarded Champion Sarcanthinae Specimen.
Warwick Matthews from Tathra won Champion Novice with his beautifully grown Cymbidium Cricket 'Cameron', carrying six pendulous racemes of dainty flowers.
