New access at Main Beach

It's excellent! I have long thought it was needed. Many times I have contacted council to push the sand back to fix the trip hazard. Now that won't happen again. And during summer thousands of young feet and old feet will be able to get on and off the beach without difficulty.

Way more logical to provide beach access at Main Beach rather than trying to install access at Short Point.

Fraser Buchanan

I am grateful, I use that beach a lot in summer and the wooden/sand steps were a bit hazardous.

Christine Kaine

Great. I just hope it's not an omen for a big storm like last year when Pambula put in beach access.

Last call for payphones

Vital service. Not everyone can afford a mobile, let alone a landline. Women forced out of the house rely on the 'Superman Change Room' to keep in contact with the outside world.

Julie Armstrong

If it's an emergency, you can always call 000 or whatever the number is where you live even if you have no credit. Different if you have no signal of course. But some people forget the phones they're looking to decommission haven't been used in years.

Turning them into Telstra Air hotspots is a gold way to utilise them. Props to Telstra for coming up with it.

Gabriel Hutchinson

In the UK we have turned them into public libraries, people put old books in and you can swap at will. Pretty good idea but ours are enclosed.

Bypass update

Is this bypass going through the middle of Merimbula? If so...how do you bypass a town that's already off the highway by going through the middle?

Anthony Hancock

Now that how Michelins work, get in and get it done.
