Trendsetter Hair Studio owner Rebecca Russell and team member Flip Ashcroft were specially selected to join a six person team of hairdressers to work backstage at the Official Miss Universe NSW Australia finalists on Sunday, April 30.
The two talented local stylists were the only hairdressers selected from regional Australia, all the others were from Sydney.
“This is a really big opportunity for us and a big honour,” Rebecca said.
“Hopefully one of the girls we style makes it through to Nationals and then becomes Miss Australia. It could open up a lot of doors.”
Rebecca and Flip, who have more than 27 years of experience between them, said they believe they were chosen because they both enjoy being creative and have won a number of competitions and awards, making a name for themselves in the industry.
Trendsetter is one of hundreds of salons in Australia that use DNA Organics products so Rebecca said she was over the moon with excitement when she received the call inviting her and Flip to work under the direction of Christopher Hanna, the National Artistic Director of DNA Organics.
“I said hell yeah, there was no way we were going to turn down this opportunity,” Rebecca said.
“I was kind of nervous when we first found out but now I am just excited, really really excited,” Flip said.
Rebecca and Flip will spend hours on Sunday afternoon and evening creating amazing luxury hair styles for the models before the competition.
