Bega Valley mum Deb Nave got in contact with the News Weekly recently to inform us that her son Malakai also received a handwritten letter from the famed broadcaster and naturalist.
“Our son Malakai Nave made a card with a drawn jungle scene on it for David Attenborough in 2014 and he too received a letter back from him,” Ms Nave said.
“The letter has been framed on our wall since.”
Sir David Attenborough receives hundreds of letters a week from fans of his immensely successful wildlife programs, but he particularly loves those he gets from kids and because of this he makes an effort to reply to every single one.
Malakai who is now six-years-old sent his letter his hero when he was only four and his framed reply is still one of his most prized possessions.
“We didn't take a photo of Malakai's card because I never imagined getting a letter back from David,” Ms Nave said.
Over two years after his correspondence with Sir David Attenborough, Malakai still loves watching the wildlife documentaries. A love that Ms Nave expects will last a lifetime.
