The community has been thanked for its generous support of a raffle and garage sale, which raised over $3000, held recently for the residents of the Red House in Tura Beach.
The Red House is an innovative approach to residential accommodation for those with a disability.
Spokesperson for the group, Sue Carr thanked the community” local and beyond for their support with the raffle” as well as staff at Workability/The Disability Trust, family members far and wide including Canberra.
“I also want to thank the fabulous shopkeepers in Merimbula and Tura Beach who supported us by selling tickets in their shops. Thanks also to Merimbula Rotary markets. The support given was amazing and very appreciated,” Mrs Carr said.
“I particularly want to thank Paul Sulis from Outback to Ocean, Kayaks and Camping Equipment who donated all the prizes. The raffle raised $2400 and the garage sale, which so many community members gave to and also supported, raised $700. The money will be put to good use in the Red House as the residents only have a small television and a second hand lounge suite in their shared living area,” Mrs Carr added.
Friends, families, staff and supporters of The Disability Trust drew the Christmas raffle at the Merimbula Rotary markets on Sunday December 18. The first prize of a 2.7 metre Outback to Ocean kayak was won by Paul English of Merimbula, second prize of a double swag was won by Tura Beach resident Kathy Wszola, and the third prize which was a single swag was won by Sam Smith, Bega.
