Far South Coast Local Area Command Police will be out in force over the coming weeks to ensure that incidents of public order and drunkenness are reduced.
Far South Coast LAC Acting Superintendent Angela Burnell said police witness the results of people drinking beyond excess.
“Alcohol contributes to a significant portion of crime within the community. This includes domestic violence, assaults, offensive behaviour and drink driving. Those that drink to excess either become perpetrators or victims of crime,” Acting Superintendent Burnell said.
“Alcohol fuelled violence is ugly and the results of that violence are even uglier, with injuries that can be fatal. Lives can be shattered and families devasted” she said.
“We recently saw an incident in the early hours of Sunday morning, December 18, 2016 in Batemans Bay where a man was treated for potential life threatening injuries as a result of an alleged assault.
“Look after your friends and family when you’re out and make sure you a Plan B to get home safely,” Acting Superintendent Angela Burnell said.
