Christmas Day can be a difficult time for many people.
But the Sapphire Coast Community Christmas Day Lunch, now in its fifth year, lets these people know that the community cares.
The event was a huge success last year with 220 people seated for a hot three course meal in two different locations, with all attendees receiving a gift. The atmosphere was just like a busy family household should have on Christmas Day.
“More people are alone on Christmas Day than you would think,” event organiser Janita Fernando said. “Last year we had young families, single parents, couples, visitors, seniors, and the list goes on. It was so gratifying to see people from all walks of life sitting down together to share a meal. It made me proud to live on the Sapphire Coast.”
This Christmas the lunch will be at Twyford Hall, Merimbula and St Georges Uniting Church Hall, Eden.
If you would like attend, volunteer or make a donation, they are still very much in need to presents for adult men, please call Janita on 0427298432.
