Emergency services attended the Millingandi park at 3.35pm on Saturday after a caravan caught fire.
Park residents had attempted to access the van but were forced back by the flames.
The fire spread to four other vans and two cars, causing extensive damage.
The fire was extinguished by officers from Fire and Rescue NSW and the Rural Fire Service, with the body of a person located in the van soon after.
A crime scene has been established while investigations by Far South Coast Local Area Command continue.
At this time, the cause of the fire remains unknown.
