Merimbula’s Peter Gardiner Jr coped with the pressure of the winner takes all tournament in Tathra last Sunday.
Tathra played host to a Ten15 tournament, which is a fast-format tennis developed by local coach James Poso to raise money for breast cancer charities after he lost his sister to the disease.
The tournament consisted of eight top players from around the region including the 2016 Merimbula club champion Paul Warren.
Mr Poso said it’s a simple format, “it’s round robin with the first to 10 points and 15 matches played on one court. “The players only get one serve, which brings a whole new dynamic and enables a much faster event.”
Sandra Bunce was the only lady competing and had a nail biting 10-9 win over Bega`s Bob Warren.
However, the final saw Gardiner against Warren where Gardiner showed fine form to seal the win 10-3.
Gardiner also donated $100 of his $200 prize to the Breast Cancer Foundation.
Mr Poso said the crowd also threw in some donations and $180 was raised to help find a cure.
