Road sealing works will be carried out on Market Street, Merimbula, between the intersections of Short Street and the Merimbula Bridge on Friday, December 2.
The works between the Merimbula causeway and Short Street are being redone after quality issues dogged the original work which was carried out in May.
Bega Valley Shire director of strategy and business services, Lucas Scarpin said it was a bad batch of material which needed to be “pulled up and replaced”.
“It was put down under contract and so we will be negotiating with the contractor,” Mr Scarpin said.
The new lot of works were started on Thursday last week, November 24, and were meant to continue throughout the weekend. However these works were halted after claims the works would interfere with the Merimbula Classic – an event that saw hundreds of people congregating in the Fishpen area.
The road will be under traffic control between 6am and 6pm, with expected delays of up to 15 minutes.
Motorist are advised to allow for extra travel time or to avoid the area if possible.
No on street parking will be permitted on this section of road during works.
