One lucky person, or group of people, will walk away $10,000 richer at the Bega Country Club on Sunday.
The X will mark the spot when golf balls tumble from a helicopter to decide the winner in the annual promotion.
The draw runs similarly to a 100-club, you can nominate what number you want through the club with each ball costing $200.
A series of golf balls are numbered at the club, and the ball closest to the mark in the drop wins the prize.
“Right now is about a 1-in-50 chance of walking away with $10,000,” Club Bega general manager Dave Mitchell said.
He said the club was eager to promote the event to business groups and sporting clubs.
“You don’t have to go out on a limb and buy one yourself” he said. “Realistically, grab a few mates and split the prize, you'll all do well.
“If four people go in together, you take home $2500 each and that money could be life-changing, especially coming in to Christmas.”
A pool buy for a sporting club could also be a quick addition to the coffers.
The promotion will run as part of the club’s “Family Fun Day” featuring market stalls, entertainment and a few attractions to occupy the kids with the event open from 11am until 3pm.
“We’ve got a giant slide and balloon artist for the kids and Garry Carson Jones will be entertaining,” Mitchell said.
The stalls will show off some local fare, while the club will also have a sausage sizzle on the day.
“Get in quick for a barbecue lunch, or we’re more than happy for people to pack a picnic and enjoy it course-side on the day,” Mr Mitchell said.
Mr Mitchell said the atmosphere at last year’s event was spectacular and he hoped there would be a similar turnout this year.
He said warm weather had arrived later than usual this year, but conditions were expected to be brilliant over the weekend and encouraged everyone to join in the fun.
The helicopter used to drop the balls will also be offering short joy-flights on the day, which Mitchell said were quite a spectacle and a lot of fun.
“It gives you a real feel and touch of a helicopter as well as a great birdseye view of the day,” he said.
You can buy a ball at Club Bega and the Country Club or give either club a call to book in your number now.
The club’s family fun day will run at the Country Club on Sunday from 11am with the ball drop to cap off the day around 3pm.
Mr Mitchell said any proceeds from the promotion would be used solely for maintaining and developing the golf course.
