Merimbula McDonald’s currently has a DA with council which will, if approved, see a 6 metre high, brightly coloured, play area erected on the Monaro Street side of the building.
The plans allow for the current play area, which overlooks Market Street and Merimbula Lake, to be moved to make way for seating. A new play area, believed to be double the current footprint, is planned to be installed in the outdoor area above Monaro Street.
It is understood the new play area will exceed the height of the building by about 2 metres. The current height limit for this part of Merimbula is 10 metres and so the new play area will not breach current regulations.
The plans are available on council’s application tracker, online, for a period of 14 days from July 14.
Council requires any submissions to be sent in writing before July 28.
