A Pambula man has been extradited to Victoria after being arrested on several outstanding warrants.
Timothy Howson was picked up on warrants issued in Victoria dated 2014 for charges including multiple counts of burglary and attempted burglary, receiving stolen goods, recklessly dealing with the proceeds of crime and trafficking cannabis.
Victorian detectives were in Bega Local Court on Tuesday last week with an application for Howson’s extradition.
Howson appeared in court with his solicitor making a plea he was concerned for his client’s safety if Victorian Police remanded him to to Melbourne Magistrates Court.
They said a trial was underway for which it was understood another warrant had been issued for Howson to appear as a witness.
They asked if extradition was to be approved, that it be to the issuing regional Victorian court rather than Melbourne.
However, Magistrate Doug Dick said he was unable to “look beyond the face of the warrant” and approved the extradition to Melbourne.
