What seemed to be endless hard work has finally paid off for the Merimbula Special Events Committee (MSEC) which launched its new fundraising project, a cookbook, on Monday evening.
Coastal Seasoning – Recipes from Sapphire Coast kitchens features recipes gathered from local award winning restaurants right through to top secret family recipes passed down through the generations.
MSEC member Katrina Woods said the group was over the moon to be launching the book and she hope the community will get behind them to raise money for the town.
“The committee took on the challenge of creating a cookbook that not only showcases our wonderful produce but we also wanted to show off our spectacular region,” Ms Woods said.
“It was inspired by our laid back lifestyle and of course our love of good food.
“This cookbook will not only take your taste buds on a mouth-watering adventure it will also take you on a journey through our amazing and spectacular region.”
One of the driving forces behind the cookbook was MSEC president Lynette Davies who personally cooked most of the meals in the book for the photos which were taken by Tori Davies.
“This is just the start, now we have to sell 1500 copies,” Ms Davies said.
Coastal Seasonings, which features a beautiful cover designed by Pambula’s Megan Luhrs, is available for purchase around town. Ten percent of the profits will be donated to REAP.
