Merimbula locals and visitors are once again getting the chance to have their name put on a prime piece of Merimbula waterfront.
For the fifth year in a row Merimbula Tourism Inc is running the sponsored paver promotion which has seen hundreds of ordinary bricks replaced with new personalised pavers.
This paver offer is a fundraising exercise to support the activities of Merimbula Tourism Inc which operates the Merimbula Visitor Information Centre and markets, promotes and advertises the town.
“We review the decision to continue offering pavers on a year to year basis as the revenue is tiny but it’s such a lovely gesture for the town we decided to do it again,” Nat Kirby, manager of Merimbula Tourism said.
“The pavers are so popular with locals and visitors alike and give the pathway on market street a great community feel adding beauty to our town.”
Ms Kirby said she really enjoys watching visitors return to Merimbula to look for their pavers.
“We recently had a grandfather who was feeling guilty because he organised pavers for the grandchildren who visited regularly, but now he’s worried his other grandchildren might show up one day and wonder where their pavers are! He’s signing up for another three pavers,” she said.
Donations in return for a paver start at $59 and the offer ends on Thursday, June 30. Anyone interested in Personal or Business pavers can go to the website www.merimbulatourism.com.au or drop into the centre or contact Merimbula Tourism on 6495 1129 or email merimbulatourismpavers@gmail.com.
