Generous, humble and selfless, these three words perfectly describe Pambula’s newest Medal of the Order of Australia recipient Daryl Dobson.
Mr Dobson was presented with his medal alongside 38 other high achieving Australians in a ceremony at Government House in Canberra on Friday, April 15.
As he made his way to the stage, to accept his award from the Governor General, the crowd heard about the wonderful ways in which he has served the Pambula community.
“It’s very exciting but I haven’t done any of this alone, there have been a lot of people who’ve worked hard for the community,” he said.
“It’s their award, I’m just the nut on the top.”
Mr Dobson is well-known for his work with Pambula Rotary but his energy and enthusiasm for helping those less fortunate spreads much further.
Along with his wife Angie, he supports a little creche in South Africa as well as a young girl in Ethiopia.
On the same day, Murray Jarvis from Eden also received his OAM.
