A Merimbula photographer has been recognised internationally.
Professional photographer, Sam Nerrie, was presented with the 9th Annual International Color Awards Nominee title in the category of People at a prestigious photo show on Saturday, March 26.
The live online gala was attended by over 10,000 photography fans around the globe who watched the industry's most important event for color photography.
Thousands of photographers from all over the world entered the competition which was judged by professionals from as far as Italy, Great Britten, USA, Germany and Hong Kong.
"It is an incredible achievement to be selected among the best from the 5,678 entries we received this year," said Basil O'Brien, the awards Creative Director.
"Sam's ‘Walking on Clouds photograph’, an exceptional image entered in the People category, represents contemporary color photography at its finest, and we're pleased to present her with the title of Nominee."
It was the first time Ms Nerrie has ever entered this competition and she said she was very surprised to find out she come away with an award.
“It is great to able to photograph and showcase the Sapphire Coast’s natural environment on the world stage,” she said
When I look at an incredible scene, I can’t not photograph it, I have to capture it.

“Although this image was entered into the People category it is more about the landscape the person is in. It was one of those gorgeous summer days on Merimbula Beach and I wanted to capture the ephemeral radiance of the approaching storm clouds. Liz Allen was happy to oblige as a model and to ‘walk into the clouds’ for me.”
Ms Nerrie has been a photographer for less than a decade and has already won a myriad of awards mainly for her landscape photography.
All of Ms Nerrie’s previous awards had been won with pictures taken in Tathra, Bournda Island and Eden so she said she was glad to win an award for a photo shot in Merimbula.
