There was plenty of laughter as three seniors took on three Lumen Christi students in a debate on whether youth is wasted on the young at Club Sapphire on Thursday, April 7.
Around 100 people crowded into the Sapphire Room to watch the lively debate between the badly behaving seniors in the shape of Angus Young (Paul Dion), Kylie Mole (Sharon Tapscott) and headmaster, Mike Warrne and three well-versed students, Lily Butler-Woollard, Lachlan Hipperson and Zachary Fernandez.
Both sides of the debate were happy to take aim at themselves and their opposition. While the students bemoaned their age and tried to tell how difficult it was being young, the seniors reminded them that in later years, both time and energy, of which they had plenty now, might be in somewhat shorter supply.
The quips came thick and fast and at the end of an amusing debate which was part of the Senior’s Week celebrations and organised by U3A, the students were declared the winners and everyone enjoyed afternoon tea.
