Some residents in the Bega Valley Shire will be forced to change their address as a result of a program aimed at improving property and site addressing within the Shire.
Owners of property addresses that need to be changed will receive a letter from Council informing them of their new address.
Council released a statement saying property owners will need to adhere to any changes and advise all relevant authorities such as the post office, bank, telephone companies and electricity providers of their new address.
Bega Valley Shire Council is working closely with Land and Property Information and the Geographical Names Board of NSW to identify properties that will need to change their address.
Council said it understands that there will be some inconvenience experienced by people affected by these changes.
“However the safety of all residents is paramount and having accurate and unique property addressing enables a quick response for any emergency services and could potentially save lives.”
