Marine Rescue and Surf Lifesavers patrolled the waters off Bar Beach, Merimbula on Sunday afternoon following reports of a person seen in difficulty in the water.
The report from a member of the public came around 1pm of a person struggling in the water and Pambula Surf Life Saving Club (PSLSC) dispatched an inflatable rescue boat and individual lifesavers combed the waters around Merimbula’s Bar Beach.
Eden Marine Rescue also searched the waters.
Speaking about about 2.30pm, president of PSLSC, Stephen Hodgson said that there had been no positive sighting.
“Someone spotted a person in trouble. We’re searching the waters but there’s been no positive sighting. No one has been reported missing,” he said.
By mid afternoon police had been signed off, although Marine Rescue and the surf lifesavers continued to search and Mr Hodgson said that the Westpac helicopter had been called to assist with the search.
