Rex Airline's 7am flight from Merimbula to Moruya was held up due to frost and ice.
An airport spokesman at Moruya said the frost over the plane delayed take-off at Merimbula and created a domino effect through to Moruya.
“The plane left at 9.40am, instead of 7am,” he said.
“We are worried about the next two mornings because of the forecast for more frost and cold mornings,” the spokesman said.
A Regional Express spokeswoman said there were 30 passengers travelling to Sydney in total, with eight of those boarding at Moruya.
The icy weather came as a shock to many residents who enjoyed some balmy conditions last week, especially on Thursday although once the sun came out, things warmed up significantly with the mercury hitting 15 degrees.
At Merimbula's Top Lake on Sunday morning, Zen Dragon Boat Club team members were breaking the ice on top of their boat. Rainfall had accumulated on the tarpaulin protecting the boat and had formed a couple of heavy duty ice blocks.
Keep your gloves and scarves handy – cold mornings are expected for the few next days.
