The scoring hit early as playing-coach Debbie Heron sent a free kick from outside the box soaring over the keeper’s reach on the squad’s way to a 7-0 domination.
The Mitchell twins are one of the competition’s most dangerous combinations out of the midfield with lethal long range kicking.
Heron said Kate Mitchell had settled in to a role in the centre midfield and chimed in with two goals.
“It was two classy goals, including a lovely volley off a cross from Mel,” Heron said.
The club’s goalie-turned-striker Kamilla Grubesic continued her in-form streak with a “smashing” right-footed volley in the opening half.
Meanwhile, Jemma Danvers’ performance on the left earned the respect of her team-mates, and players’ player.
Unfortunately for Bemboka, they were completely ovewhelmed as the Killer Whales continued their scoring frenzy.
The visiting team breathed a collective sigh of relief when the final whistle blew, with the Killer Whales 7-0 up.
The Eden line-up now has a stranglehold on the competition, with only the second placed Bega Devils nearby on the ladder.
A bye this weekend gives the squad a chance to rest before taking on the Devils, but Heron said the squad is eager for the contest.
“We are really looking forward to tackling Bega again,” she said.
“And we’ve been focusing on coming up with the right formation and positioning in recent weeks in preparation.”
Currently, the Bega squad tops the table offensively, but the Killer Whales have only had six goals scored against them in the entire season.
“Our defence is rock solid with Bhud Clark and Kim Peters in the centre and Tayla Grant, Jaimie Christensen and Tanya Waites out wide,” Heron said.
The squad has also been doing some intense training together off the field.
“Our fitness is also key leading into the pointy end of the season.
“And we have thrown in a few sessions of GRIT at Eden Gym and Squash which is a high intensity cardio workout.”
Heron also encourages other teams to try out the workout to improve their game.
“Grit is not for the feint hearted, but I would really recommend it to any sporting teams who want to push themselves to their limits,” she said.
