Panthers head coach Matt Inskip credits a full-team effort for the club’s success so far.
“It sounds a bit cliche, but you’re only as good as your weakest link and we really don’t have one,” Inskip said.
The club has a couple more injuries to add to the growing roster, but Inskip isn’t fazed just yet.
“We’ve picked up a few more injuries, it’s the story of our season so far, but luckily we’ve got the depth on the bench,” he said.
Rather than focusing on key players, Inskip said the Panthers have been developing tactics for each team they face.
“Basically now that we’ve seen everyone play it comes back to a game plan,” Inskip said.
“I make a plan based on what I think they’re going to have and where I best feel we can attack them.”
With the tactics in mind, Sunday’s game will see the Panthers forwards going hard at the Cooma’s forwards.
“Cooma traditionally has a fairly solid forward pack and so do we,” Inskip said.
“I think whoever goes out and asserts there dominance early will go home with the chocolates.”
To counter the war of attrition in the front, the Panthers will look to tactical kicking to press an advantage.
“Cooma is definitely a field with an up and downhill.
“When you’re headed for home it’s kick early and run it down.
“We’ll also be hitting them on the edges with one or two passes and that sort of thing.”
The Panthers are currently second on the reserve grade ladder, but Inskip said it was “cluttered” and he was after every win the club could get.
“We spoke about it [toppling Eden] at training the other night, but the table is pretty cluttered.
“If someone knocks off Eden anyone could finish first or second.”
The Panthers will definitely be hunting for the points this weekend.
“Dropping a game can really hurt you.”
The game starts at 1pm at the Cooma ground.
