The Bega Valley Relay for Life has been cancelled as the wet weather has made the grounds at the Pambula sports complex unusable and unsafe. Sarah Flynn of the Cancer Council NSW said: “We had concerns about this last night (Thursday, April 3) and went to the site to take a look. Then this morning (Friday, April 4) at 6am we met again on site and made the decision to cancel.

Sarah said: “We are all incredibly disappointed and it’s a great disappointment for the committee members who have worked so hard all year. Normally we wouldn’t stop for the rain because cancer doesn’t stop for the rain but the grounds are unsafe and so we have to cancel the event. Unfortunately there is no indoor location big enough to take the numbers of people involved.”
A meeting is expected to take place today with those involved to look at if and when the event may be rescheduled.
